How to read lap records

These illustrative records assume three problems are solved in sequence.

LapSplit timeTotal time
0303:05.0007:00.00
0201:40.0003:55.00
0102:15.0002:15.00

The second problem takes 01:40.00, while the total for the first two is 03:55.00. Recording a lap keeps the stopwatch running, and paused time is excluded.

Ways to use it

  • Problem-solving practice: Record a lap for each problem to see which types take longer.
  • Presentation rehearsal: Use laps for the introduction, main section, and conclusion to adjust the total presentation time.
  • Repeated activities: Compare lap times across repeated activities to see how your timing changes.

Frequently asked questions

Does recording a lap stop the stopwatch?

No. A lap records the time at that moment while the stopwatch continues. Use Pause to stop timing.

What is the difference between split and total time?

Split time is the time since the previous lap. Total time is the elapsed time from the start to this lap. Paused time is excluded.

How can I keep the records?

Copy important lap records to a separate document. Clearing browser data or resetting can remove them. They are not backed up to a server or synchronized to another device.

If you have a set duration

The stopwatch measures elapsed time. For a fixed-duration activity, such as finishing in ten minutes, use the Timer. For display settings and keyboard shortcuts, see the User guide for details.
